Title: Agent-based simulation of the transmission of pathogens in public transport based on socio- demographic aspects

The aim of this work is to study the role of public transport in the transmission of pathogens. For this purpose a simulation model is developed which simulates Hamburg’s public transport network as well as its population. The means of transport are used by individuals to pursue activities, whereat transmission of infection can occur in means of transport as well as locations. The developed model is used to simulate the spread of the H1N1 infuenza pandemic. Simulation results are compared both with real data and results of other scientific studies.
